The Zolman Law in Mesa wants to report a legal victory that will make a difference. The family law team represented a maternal grandmother in her successful legal fight to obtain custody over her grandchild. The toddler is suffering from Down’s Syndrome and had been placed with her aunt and separated from her parents after a domestic violence incident.

The Zolman Law family law team forced the State of Arizona to reverse their decision about not placing the child with the grandmother and to commit in open court to make an immediate decision to place the grandchild. At the same time, The Zolman Law uncovered a restraining order against the aunt’s husband prohibiting him from contacting his minor daughter after he threatened to kill her with a machete (yes, you read correctly!). Thanks to our advocacy, the State of Arizona had no other choice but to award custody to our client and bring about a happy family reunion.

This case is a reminder as to why legal advocacy matters as a vessel for positive change and thereby serves as a reaffirmation of the maxim that helping clients solve legal problems can be both be rewarding to us and a life-changing event for our clients.
